T-Shirt design celebrating the 150 year old relationship between Rutgers and Japan.
Rutgers graduated their first Japanese exchange student in 1870. This longstanding relationship between the university and Japan was commemorated with a celebration featuring an exhibit at the Zimmerli Art Museum as well as other festivities. Working with students studying in the department of Asian Languages and Cultures, I was able to use their ideas and sketches as inspiration to create two t-shirt designs that were voted on. The winner was printed on t-shirts that were made available to the American and Japanese exchange students studying here on campus. The mark was also used as an identifier for the event. See the winning design as well as one of the other design concepts and a few spreads from the program booklet that I put together for the event below.
